Going the way of my previous blogs

Well, well, well.

I'm not sure i'm ever going to have the time to update a blog because I, er, am constantly distracted by other things.

So what's been going on? Most recently I've continued to deal with the nightmare of my commute, just short of an hour on the way home today. Is there a saying somewhere that if a trailer overturns on the Beltway traffic will worsen on eastbound state Route 100?

I've spent some time on Facebook, and even linked to two old friends from high school.

Otherwise, it's been cleaning around the house, paying bills and working away at theHoward County Times.

Hopefully tomorrow I can provide some useful links to news not about boring people like me.

And the biggest sports-related weekend event

The Twins win the central! The Twins win the Central! The Minnesota Twins are you're A.L. Central champions.

I learned this while at the Redskins game as I watched score updates on my blackberry show the Royals rally.

Even though this is a topic near and dear to me, as a newby blogger I am going to half to sign of for the night without any good links for you.

NFL Notes

So, as I mentioned below I spent the weekend in Washington hanging out with friends from grad school.

That was followed by what was likely the second-best football game I have ever been to in my life: the
  • Redskins 36-30, overtime victory over the Jags,
  • which Santa Moss
  • put on a clinic.

  • (For the record, the best game I've ever been at was Wisconsin over Michigan
  • in 2005.

  • I've always been critical of Skins fans at FedEx as among the quietest of any place I've ever been but that was not the case yesterday. IT WAS LOUD and it exploded when Moss took it to the house in OT.

The energy afterward was amazing, much of the crowd sang "hail to the redskins" all the way out of the stadium.

    In other action, the
  • Chargers blew their lead to the Ravens
  • putting my friend Mark in the early lead in our friendly wager as to which of the two teams will win the most games this year.

    on the college football weekend.

In a year that's seen many good games, this week was kind of bland.

Ohio St. really broke through. I've had Auburn at No. 1 in my personal poll since the first week, but Ohio State's dominating win in Iowa City coupled with the Tigers escape in Columbia caused me to move the Buckeyes on top.

My remaining Top 10: USC, Florida, Louisville, Michigan, W. Virginia, LSU, Texas and Tennessee.

The Cal-Oregon winner has a good chance to jump in there after this weekend.

You may notice the Georgia Bulldogs are NOT on my list. How I team can escape from Colorado and Ole Miss and still be in the Top 10 is beyond me.

For those of you new to my blog, everyone, my favorite team is the Wisconsin Badgers. They of course had a dominating week. I was trying to get my things together for a trip I had to D.C. over the weekend so I didn' watch closely but it seems everytime I looked up they scored.

Not as good a week for my other teams. The Hurricanes win over Houston was that in name only. The Gophers holding on to the Brown Jug was short-lived and the Cyclones had to reach into their rear ends to beat I-AA Northern Iowa at home.

    can I be self-taught? If
  • this
  • will show you playoff probable pitchers then yes, if not, uh, no.

    Welcome to my blog

So this is my third attempt at launching a blog, and I plan to start two more soon. This is my chance to kind of self teach myself. Sorry for anyone forced to watch the growing pains.
